Myth Cloth Review: Lionet Ban
Up on the review block is another one of the minor saints: Lionet Ban. Although he suffered from less face time in the show than some of the other minors bronze saints( Ichi, Jab and Geki), he is actually one of the hardest to get and thus most expensive. Is this Saint with such a small role to play worth the cost? Hit the jump to find out.

Myth Cloth Review: Poseidon/Julian Solo
Poseidon, the God who commands the sea itself , reincarnates in the body of a young man named Julian Solo. Julian is the wealthy heir to a corporation that ruled much of the sea with their trade. Though Poseidon did not wish to fight Athena, he was manipulated by Seadragon Kannon into doing so.
So how does the Myth Cloth stack up to the myth of the Ruler of the Sea?

Myth Cloth Review: Aquarius Appendix OCE
Oh the appendix, Bandai's way of correcting the mistakes of the earlier myth cloth. Too bad they did not make enough to for everybody that wants one. While I had been lucky enough to get ahold of the other appendix at a decent price, the one from my birth sign had still elluded me, Aquarius
Until I got one on eBay for $70 . Then in a bad twist of fate , the Chinese seller I bought it from claimed he listed the wrong item for auction. So he said he only had the OCE version and could not fulfill the original item. So in the end I got the OCE version , since I knew may never see the original for under $150.
I later checked the same sellers auctions , to see him listing 3 of the regular color appendix.
So for those who shop on eBay, stay away from the seller: hiretsu. He is bad news!
Well enough of my rant and onto the review. Hit the jump!

Saint Seiya Myth Cloth Review: Seahorse Baian
Well I am pretty excited to have completed the Poseidon generals, with Seahorse being the final acquisition! Kind of backwards considering he is the very first of the generals to be defeated by the bronze saints. Hit the jump to read about how this general stands up to the rest.

Myth Cloth Review: Hydra Ichi

Hit the jump to see how this second rate bronze saint stacks up to the rest of the myth cloth.

Saint Seiya Myth Cloth Review : Andromeda Shun 3rd Armor
The second part of our Friday Saint Cloth Myth Doubleheader, it's the Bronze Saint of the Andromeda Constellation, Shun. Considered the kindest and gentlest of Athena's Saints, Shun proves to be a formidible foe when forced to fight. Unfortunately, most of the Internet looks at Shun and thinks, "I can't wait to write a pornographic story about him and the 12 Gold Saints". It's terrifying. Before you hit the jump, let me assure you that Andromeda Shun is indeed a dude.
Saint Seiya Myth Cloth Review : Cygnus Hyoga 3rd Armor

Myth Cloth Review : Phoenix Ikki V2
After a short break for the holidays, we here at Getter Newtype are ready to get back to what really matters in life: highly-detailed , articulated collectibles ( just don't let my girlfriend know I said that ).
Today we have Part two of the Saint Seiya Newborn Cloth Collection: the Phoenix Ikki Version 2 armor.
Ikki is another orphan who , along with his younger brother Shun, is taken in by the Graude foundation . When the orphans are picking their locations for training , Shun picks Death Queen Island which is notorious as a living hell. Ikki volunteers to take his brother's place in order to protect him. Although Ikki survives the brutal training on the island and returns to Japan with the Phoenix Cloth, he returns with plans to take over the world, by means of stealing the Gold Cloth of Sagittarius
Phoenix Ikki is often referred to as the strongest of the Bronze Saints( arguably Seiya is stronger when his cosmo burns with the power of his love for Athena). He has a unique cosmos that is fueled by anger and hatred. He is grounded from becoming truly evil , by the love for his brother Shun, and the memories of the woman he loved on Death Queen Island , Esmeralda ( female-Shun).Although Ikki becomes a "good" guy , he is still a loner and likes to play by his own rules.
Hit the Jump to read more about this bad boy gone good, kind of.

Myth Cloth Review : Dragon Shiryu V2
Black and white box included with this version |
Getter Newtype proudly presents part 1 of the Saint Seiya Newborn Cloth collection reviews: Dragon Shiryu.
Shiryu is one of the five main bronze saints of Saint Seiya. He is sent by the Graude foundaion to the Five Old Peaks in China to train under Master Dohko( who is later revealed to be the gold saint of the Libra Constellation.)
Shiryu obtains the the Dragon cloth by reversing the flow of the Rozan waterfall, whose water bathed the armor for 200 years and strengthened it. The Dragon cloth contains the Dragon Shield, which is said to be unbreakable and the strongest amongst the saints of Athena. Both of these facts are revealed to be untrue as many of his opponents manage to break the legendary shield and we later find out that the Libra cloth contains the strongest shield(s) of all of the saints of Athena.

Saint Seiya Myth Cloth Review : Aries Shion
Rising from the depths of hell itself to kill Athena, it's Aries Shion, former Pope of Sanctuary! Arguably one of the most important figures in the whole Saint Seiya anime, Pope Shion is interesting because he only showed up as a corpse during the run of the show. During the Hades arc OVA's the former Pope and greatest servant of Athena made his triumphant return, restored to life, youth and power by making a deal with Athena's greatest enemy, the god of death, Hades. Read on after the jump!
Saint Seiya Myth Cloth Review : Unicorn Jabu
Unicorn Gallop! |
Jabu, another one of the orphans taken in by the Graude foundation, acquires the Unicorn cloth and returns with it to Japan for the Galaxian wars. In the first round of battle , he faces Andromeda Shun. During this battle he finds it impossible to get near Shun, who is protected by his chains. In the middle of their match Phoenix Ikki appears and steals Sagittarius Cloth that the bronze saint were fighting for. After this chapter , Unicorn Jabu fades into the background of the series along with the other minor bronze saints. He makes a few appearances later on in the series, but does not play a major role in the storyline. It is a little know fact that Masami Kurumad has originally intended for Unicorn Jabu to actually be one of the main bronze saints, along with Seiya , Shun , Shiryu and Hyoga . However, he decided against it since his personality was too similar to Seiya . This did not stop Shiori Teshirogi, the author of Lost Canvas, from making Pegasus Tenma and Unicorn Yato (again , two similar characters) from being the protagonists of her manga.

Saint Seiya Myth Cloth Review : Kraken Isaac
Kraken Isaac is Hyoga’s childhood training partner and friend. Both of them trained under Aquarius Camus (Crystal Saint in the Anime). Isaac was well on his way to acquire the Cygnus Cloth, since he was always outdoing Hyoga. That was until one day when Hyoga decided to visit his mother’s sunken ship in the Ocean and is caught in a strong ocean current. Isaac saves Hyoga, but is bashed against a glacier (and looses an eye) and eventually sinks into the bottom of the sea. It is at that time that he is saved by the Kraken and is brought to Poseidon’s Sanctuary, where he becomes the guardian of the Arctic Pillar.

Myth Cloth Review : Siren Sorrento
Next up on the review block is : Siren Sorrento
Quick Bio:
Siren Sorrento is the guardian of the South Atlantic Ocean pillar and the messenger of Poseidon. His attacks rely on his flute( The Dead End Symphony and the Dead End Climax), which can play directly into the human mind, as Taurus Aldebaran discovers when he takes his own hearing in an attempt to escape his deadly melody.

Saint Seiya Myth Cloth Review : Chrysaor Krishna
Up for review is another one of Poseidon's Marine Generals!
Quick Bio:
Chrysaor is the General the guards the Indian Ocean's Pillar. His name means " He who has a gold armament." In Greek Mythology, Chrysaor is actually the son of Poseidon. He was conceived when Poseidon and Medusa made love in a temple of Athena( which is why Athena turned Medusa into the creature that would turn anybody into stone with a mere look at her face). When Perseus kills Medusa, Chrysaor is born of her neck ; along with a Pegasus who is born from her blood. I thought this could have made a cool plot twist in Saint Seiya , as this makes Chrysaor and Pegasus mythological brothers. However, Chrysaor ends up facing Shiryu. He wields an unbreakable lance , that easily slices through the bronze cloth of Shiryu.

Saint Seiya Myth Cloth Review : Scylla Io
Quick Bio:
The guardian of the South Pacific Ocean Pillar. His armor represents the monster who lived in the Straight of Messia, a treacherous path that was traversed by Odysseus in Homer's The Odyssey. Kurumada's take on the monster featured the head of a maiden and the body of six beasts: Bee, Eagle, Serpent, Vampire Bat, Wolf and Grizzly Bear. As such Io's armor comprised of the six beasts.
