Blazing Sword Voltron

Here's a toy I've been holding onto for a while. This is Mattel's Blazing Sword Voltron, a highly poseable version originally made for San Diego Comic-Con 2011, I believe. It ended up being a pretty popular item, so much so that it is now in Matty's Essentials collection on the MattyCollector website. It can be had for $30.00. Hit the jump to see more pics.

As the weather around here starts getting colder I'm going to have to take this stuff indoors. The big MattyCollector Voltron poses a whole slew of challenges. Just his size alone is a big hurdle. Without natural light and since I am still very much a novice I'm testing out different shots and lighting set ups. Don't worry about the blurriness. These two were just quick ones to see what I need to adjust to bring you readers the best pictures I can.

Matty and Me

For my first entry since I got active on this blog again I'd like to talk a bit about my experience over the past year dealing with Mattel. Specifically, their toy collector-aimed website MattyCollector.com¹. I feel like my one year as a MattyCollector subscriber showed me a lot about how the companies that control the properties we love try to force a square peg into a round hole. It also made me take a good, hard look at my own toy collecting hobby habits and realize that there were some things I needed to change. Anyways, this isn't a review per se, but I will provide pictures of different things I bought from Mattel over the past year. I know seeing a bunch of Masters of the Universe figures might be a bit jarring, since this blog typically covered imported Japanese toylines. Bear with me, I'm still trying to knock the blogging rust off!
